Business attire for Inverted Triangle
The Inverted triangle shape is characterized by having broad shoulders which create a strong frame on the upper body. While the hips and legs tend to be quite slender. The inverted triangle has a smaller bottom half than top half and is also quite angular without very obvious curves.
When dressing for an inverted triangular shape, the goal is to bring emphasis away from the shoulders and bust and down to the waist, bottom and legs.
Obtain a proportional look by intentionally defining the bottom half with the right clothing and accessories. Details must begin from the waist down as to balance out the body and create curves on the bottom half.
Clothing that will help you do this:
- Tailored Jackets with slim lapels and a single button that flare slightly at the waist.
-Fuller/pleated skirts to balance out the smaller bottom half.
-Scooped and V-shaped necklines with low-hung jewelry create a central line as to not add too much emphasis to the bust or shoulders.
-Tops with fluted cuffs in plain colors,
-Fine flowing fabrics (such as linen and silk) on top as they won’t add bulk.
-Wide leg, boot-cut, dark denim jeans
-Dresses that flow through the waist.
Avoid items such as:
-Heavy bulky knits and shrugs.
-Shirts and jackets with breast pockets
-Tapered trousers as they minimize the bottom
-Ruffled necklines.
