Dressing for the hourglass body shape
The hourglass body shape is well proportioned throughout. The top and bottom halves of the body are approximately the same width and overall size.
The shape is very well defined as it is neither top nor bottom heavy. Women with this body shape can maintain a waist even when they gain weight.
The hourglass figure is clearly curvaceous and has been called the ultimate shape, with more women falling into this category than any other.
The key to dressing the hourglass figure is to select items that encourage the eye to take in the entire body rather than focusing on a particular area.
Choosing clothes that will help this figure:
-Heart shaped neck lines in tops.
-Wrap blouses that bring definition to the waist.
-Detailed jackets that also define the waist.
-Jackets/blazers that flare out slightly at the waist
-High waisted skirts
-Pencil skirts, full circle flowing skirts and A-line skirts
-Emphasize the waist with fun belts – thick or thin.
Avoid clothes that:
-Are too bulky without much shape.
-Hide the waist and form a box shaped body
-Dull, lifeless fabric that does not give shape to this great figure.
